Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)!
It is our greatest pleasure to announce to you our new and exciting Global Cultural Engagement Convention HKUST that will be held mid June 2014.
We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the Global Cultural Engagement Convention HKUST, a convention to develop cultural integration among students of different culture and backgrounds.
The Global Culture Engagement Convention HKUST, or GCEC HKUST, is the first ever student-led convention organized by 3 of the largest societies in HKUST: Student’s Union HKUST, International Student’s Association and Mainland Undergraduate Students’ and Scholars’ Society.
GCEC HKUST is a great opportunity for undergraduate student leaders from around the world to share their experiences of campus diversity, discuss challenges and best practices, and consult with experts. University Student Leaders are at the forefront of dealing with the issue of tolerance and cultural integration on campuses. However, the opportunities to learn from their peers in an international context are few. Thus, GCEC HKUST will provide a unique forum for undergraduate student leaders to gather and share their insights and learning
GCEC HKUST aims to work around 4 different themes of cultural integration, which are Humor, Body Language, Food and Gender Role.
Participants will be given the opportunity to discuss and take part in implementation of projects designed to enhance cultural integration among students in the second week of the convention, thus providing an outlet for student leaders to personally experience cooperating with others. The implementation of the projects will be carried out in 3 steps: Exploration, Understanding and Implementation.
A leadership camp and various cultural activities have been organized not only to serve as icebreaking opportunities among attendees but also to encourage understanding and experiencing of the local culture. It is also our honor to invite celebrities and experts to share their knowledge and experience on cultural integration, in the hopes that participants communicate newfound knowledge and ideas back to their respective institutions to increase cross-cultural interaction.
The details of GCEC are as follows:
Venue: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong
Dates: Thursday, 12th June 2014 – Saturday, 28th June 2014
