Title: A short tutorial of quantum transport

Abstract: In this tutorial, I will give a brief overview of quantum transport theory and then move on to the Landauer approach. In the Landauer approach, I will introduce several concepts: (i) transmission function, transmission channels, and ballistic conduction, (ii) how to calculate transmission functions, (iii) Where the self-energy of electrodes come from, (iv) surface green*s function and its special cases: Newns-Anderson model and the wideband approximation, and (v) one-level toy model and its physical meaning. After this, I will briefly introduce NEGF-DFT (non-equilibrium green*s function--density functional theory) approach such as non-equilibrium density matrix. If time permits, I will talk about the concept of virtual leads and its applications.
