Abstract:
In the decades since the invention of multiphoton microscopy, this imaging modality continues to make significant impact in diverse fields of biology and medicine. In my lab, we have been developing nonlinear optical imaging to address basic physiological questions and seeking medical applications. The fields we have investigated include dermatology, ophthalmology, hepatology, tissue engineering, infectious diseases, and others. I will also discuss various projects in progress, including high content whole organ imaging at submicron resolution.
Brief Bio:
Chen-Yuan Dong received his PhD in physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998. From 1998-2000, he was awarded an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at MIT’s mechanical engineering department. He joined the Department of Physics at National Taiwan University in 2001 where he is currently a Distinguished Professor. Prof. Dong’s research interest including developing novel optical technologies for solving problems in biological phenomena. He also works on extending these methodologies in advancing biotechnology and address medical problems in the clinics. He is an OSA fellow and on the editorial board of the Journal of Biomedical Optics.
