Dear Colleagues and Friends:

Prof. Paul Schimmel, an internationally renowned scholar and an eminent scientific leader, is invited by the K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation and Academia Sinica to visit Taiwan as one of the 2017 K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Lecturers and will give 2 lectures entitled “Why some and not other ideas gain support for medical development” and "Your and a single cell’s intuition” on October 19 (Thursday) and 20 (Friday), respectively. On October 19, we will also have Dr. Lan Bo Chen to give a lecture entitled “Forget not mitochondria”. Lectures on October 19 will be delivered in the International Conference Hall, Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Academia Sinica (http://www.ntu.edu.tw/english/about/map.html). The lectures are expected to provide local researchers with invaluable inspiration.

Prof. Paul Schimmel is Ernest and Jean Hahn Professor of Molecular Biology and Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute. Prior to joining The Scripps, he was John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

Dr. Lan Bo Chen is Chairman of CHO Pharma Inc. and Professor Emeritus of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. In addition to his storied career in the biotechnology industry, Dr. Chen has served as Professor at China Medical University. He was elected as an academician of the Academia Sinica in 1996.
