Dear colleagues and friends:
Dr. Dale L. Boger and Dr. Stuart L. Schreiber, two internationally renowned scholars and eminent scientific leaders, are invited by the K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation and Academia Sinica to visit Taiwan as the 2018 K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry lecturers. Dr. Boger and Dr. Schreiber will give 2 lectures on November 1 (Thursday) and 2 (Friday) respectively.
On November 1, Dr. Schreiber will give a lecture entitled “Chemical biology-based approach to understanding and overcoming resistance to cancer therapies” followed by Dr. Dale L. Boger’s lecture on “Redesign of vancomycin for resistant bacteria”. These two lectures will be delivered in the International Conference Hall, National Biotechnology Research Park (see attachment for bus info and location). On November 2, Dr. Boger’s lecture on “Redesign of vancomycin for resistant bacteria” and Dr. Schreiber’s lecture on “Chemistry towards novel mechanism-of-action compounds in therapeutics discovery” will be given in the Song-Pei Lecture Hall, Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University (http://www.ntu.edu.tw/english/about/map.html). The lectures are expected to provide local researchers with invaluable inspiration.
Dr. Stuart L. Schreiber is a co-founder of the Broad Institute, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, the Morris Loeb Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, and has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences since 1995.
Dr. Dale L. Boger is a faculty in the Department of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute as the Richard and Alice Cramer Professor of Chemistry.
You are cordially invited to share the valuable insights of those distinguished scientists. Online registration for lectures on November 1 is required and available at http://www.bc.sinica.edu.tw/WangFoun/. We are looking forward to seeing you in these lectures!
Sincerely,
The K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation
