敬邀參加2019王光燦生物有機化學講座演講 Announcement of 2019 K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Lectureship Series

Dear colleagues and friends:

Dr. Hiroshi Sugiyama, Dr. Mark O’Connor and Dr. Daniel Kahne, three internationally renowned scholars and eminent scientific leaders, are invited by the K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation and Academia Sinica to visit Taiwan as the 2019 K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry lecturers.

On October 23, Dr. Sugiyama will give a lecture entitled “Chemical Biology of Nucleic Acids: DNA Origami and Artificial Genetic Switch” followed by Dr. O’Connor’s lecture on “Targeting the DNA Damage Response to Generate New Medicines for Cancer Patients”. These two lectures will be delivered in the International Conference Hall, National Biotechnology Research Park (see attached pdf file for bus info and location). On December 17 and 18, Dr. Kahne’s lecture on “Molecular Machines that Make Membranes” will be given in the International Conference Hall, Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Academia Sinica (December 17) and in the Song-Pei Lecture Hall, Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University (http://www.ntu.edu.tw/english/about/map.html) (December 18). These lectures are expected to provide local researchers with invaluable inspiration.

Dr. Hiroshi Sugiyama’s research focuses on the chemical biology of nucleic acids and integrates three major groups focusing on DNA nanotechnology, molecular biology and synthetic organic chemistry for defining the chemical principles underlying the recognition, reactivity and structure of nucleic acids.

Dr. Mark J. O'Connor has more than 25 years of experience in oncology research and development including an in-depth knowledge of DNA damage response biology. Current position is as Chief Scientist within AstraZeneca Oncology providing scientific leadership for more than 100 scientists involved in various aspects of research and development of DDR inhibitors.

Dr. Daniel Kahne’s research focuses on identifying and understanding the machinery necessary for proper assembly of this membrane barrier, as well as the mechanisms that lead to defects.

You are cordially invited to share the valuable insights of those distinguished scientists. Online registration for lectures on October 23 is required and available at https://forms.gle/bPGrsmt4g63PcHP9A. We are looking forward to seeing you in these lectures!

Sincerely,

The K.T. Wang Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation
