Paleo Proxy Lab (Dr. Sze Ling Ho), Institute of Oceanography, National Taiwan University(NTU) is hiring a Research assistant (full-time)
Starting March 2020
In Paleo Proxy Lab, we mostly work with marine sediments, and to a lesser extent seawater
samples. We use geochemical signatures, the so-called proxies, in these samples to investigate
changes in the environment, climate and ocean. We are particularly keen to find out how ocean
temperature changed in the past. We are a young team, consisting of 8 members from 4 countries.

We are now looking for a full-time research assistant to join us. He/she will be expected to assist
in various tasks, including:
• Running and maintaining a GC
• Preparing samples for geochemical analyses
• Training new students in sample preparation
• Managing inventory in the lab
• Paperwork
Required qualifications:
• BSc or MSc in Geosciences / Chemistry
• Experience in geochemical analyses, ideally with GC, LC/MS, or both
• Fluent in English language and willingness to work in an international team.
Desirable qualities:
• Careful in laboratory work
• Organized
• Passionate about science
Salary and benefits:
The salary offered is in accordance with NTU pay grade scale. Depending on work experience,
the monthly salary for a MSc degree holder is 37k to 45k NTD (before tax). We also provide
national health insurance, pension and year-end bonus (1.5 monthly salary). On-the-job training
will be provided.
