演講題目:Unique Oxidation of Ethylene by Platinum/Mesoporous Silica Catalysts
Abstract:
Mesoporous silica is a unique support in heterogeneous catalysis. In this seminar, I will talk on our recent results of oxidation of ethylene by Pt supported on mesoporous silica. Ethylene released from fruits, vegetables and flowers can accelerate aging and spoiling of plants even in refrigerators at low temperature. We have reported that Pt nanoparticles supported on mesoporous silica give high oxidation efficiency of ethylene at low temperature as well as durability in prolonged reaction time or recycle use. In a mechanistic study, the main pathway for C2H4 oxidation is cracking of C2H4 and subsequent oxidation into HCHO. Then HCHO further decomposes into CO and H species and finally CO is oxidized into CO2. The catalytic performances and mechanism will be discussed.
